Cervical Disc Herniations and Spinal Fusion Surgery. This medical exhibit illustrates anterior cervical discectomies and fusion surgery of the C4-5 and C5-6 intervertebral discs. Pictured in the illustrations are the removal of the herniated discs, the C5 vertebral body, and the superior and inferior endplates. It also shows harvesting a bone graft from the ilium (hip bone), and the placement of the bone graft to fuse the cervical spine from C4 through C5.
