Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This exhibit illustrates in five essential steps, the anterior cervical discectomy procedure. It begins with an anterior approach to the neck making a transverse incision at the level of the second and third cervical vertebrae. Subsequent steps illustrates removal of disc material at the C2-3 level, preparation of vertebrae to fit in the bone graft, and placement of bone graft into the C2-3 space. A separate illustration shows an incision made over the iliac crest and two samples of bone graft harvested from it which are used to create the bone fusion between C2 and C3.

What attorneys say about MLA and The Doe Report:
"Thank you for the wonderful illustrations. The case resulted in a defense verdict last Friday. I know [our medical expert witness] presented some challenges for you and I appreciate how you were able to work with him."

"The illustrations have consistently been well documented, accurate and timely. Most important though is that the illustrations demonstrate to juries and claims people the persuasive power of visual communication. Our firm has achieved multiple eight figure settlements and verdicts over the past ten years... Medical Legal Art has been there with us on every case."

"It is my experience that it's much more effective to show a jury what happened than simply to tell a jury what happened. In this day and age where people are used to getting information visually, through television and other visual media, I would be at a disadvantage using only words.

I teach a Litigation Process class at the University of Baltimore Law Schooland use [Medical Legal Art's] animation in my class. Students always saythat they never really understood what happened to [to my client] until theysaw the animation.

Animations are powerful communication tools that should be used wheneverpossible to persuade juries."

"Your firm is great to work with and, most importantly for me, you get the job done on time and with the utmost professionalism. You should be proud of all those you employ, from KJ to Ben B. I've been especially pleased over the years with the work of Brian and Alice, both of whom seem to tolerate my idiosycratic compulsion to edit, but I've not found a bad apple in the bunch (and, as you know, I've used your firm a bunch!). I look forward to our continued professional relationship."
