Left Hip Fracture with Surgical Fixation - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing

This stock medical exhibit describes a left hip fracture with surgical fixation. The first image is an artist's interpretation of a pre-operative x-ray which clearly shows the subtrochanteric fracture of the left femur. The remaining images describe multiple steps of the fixation procedure including the incisions, the use of a reamer to widen the medullary canal of the femur, and the hammering of an intramedullary rod into place to fix the fracture.
