Polar Body Biopsy of Oocyte (for BRCA gene study) - Medical Animation
This 3D medical animation shows a polar body biopsy procedure. Prior to the procedure, the developing egg, called the primary oocyte, divides into the secondary oocyte and the first polar body. At this point, the biopsy procedure can be performed, during which a needle removes the polar body. Its genetic contents can be examined to diagnose translocations and monogenic disorders of maternal origin. In this animation, the BRCA1 gene, which can lead to an increased risk of breast cancer, is highlighted.

"Thank you very much for the great work on the medical exhibits. Our trial resulted in a $16 million verdict for a 9 year old boy with catastrophic injuries, and the medical illustrations definitely played key role in the trial."

"I thought you might want to know that after we sent a copy of your illustration to the defendants, with a copy to the insurance company, they increased their offer by an additional million dollars and the case was settled for $1,900,000.00.
